Tyewriter with the words "Thunderfoot Studio's Screenwriting Group [meets] 1st and 3rd Monday every month. Open to writers 18 and up. Next meeting is April 20, 2026, 6:00 - 8:00 pm. We'll do live script readings and give feedback. Thunderfoot-studio.com"

Several writers attended our first screenwriting group meeting on Monday, April 6, 2026. We discussed ways we can help each other develop and refine our scripts. Here’s our working plan (subject to change) for future meetings:

  • Cold read scripts.
    • Submit 5-7 pages of your script as a PDF. Make sure your pages are properly formatted (like this or this or this). Work submitted without proper formatting cannot be read.
    • You will assign your characters’ roles to members at the next meeting, and we’ll read the pages aloud.
    • This method shows you how others interpret your work and will help you recognize your mistakes.
    • Feedback is given at the end of the reading. Wear your bulletproof writing armor and be prepared to cry. 😂 Sometimes honesty hurts.
  • Critique partners.
    • Our group promotes reciprocal feedback. If you’d like to trade scripts with another writer for critique, go for it! Share your thoughts about character development, plot arc, world-building, goal, motivation, conflict, tension, stakes, and more. In return, you get similar feedback on your work.
  • Education.
    • We have members who are experts in writing scripts. From time to time, we’ll host educational activities, lectures, and workshops. Learning from each other is a wonderful gift!
  • Screenings.
    • Members who have produced their own short films, features, or pilots have an opportunity to screen their work on our LED light wall in front of an audience. If you really wanna get fancy, we can even set up a red carpet and bust out the concession stand.
  • Prompts.
    • Sometimes we sit down to write and end up staring blankly at the screen for ten minutes. Writing with a prompt can help get the creative juices flowing. We’ll give writers a chance to stretch their creative muscles at future meetings.
  • Networking.
    • An important part of any creative endeavor is finding a support network to lean on. Our group offers social time to get to know your fellow writers, see what they’re working on, find potential writing partners, and figure out ways we can help each other.

Our next meeting is Monday, April 20, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Thunderfoot Studio. Anyone over 18 who has written a script, wants to write a script, or needs help getting started is welcome to join us. Just fill out this form so we can get to know you better and keep you informed about upcoming events.
